Our hiking holidays in Portugal, offers nearly year-round optimal weather conditions for a hiking adventure. You’ll trek from the coastal town of Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve, through pine forests and quaint fishing villages, before reaching the seaside town of Zambujeira do Mar.

From the wild and romantic coastal paths, you'll head inland from Odeceixe, navigating pleasant inclines through valleys to the traditional Alentejano town of São Teotónio. On the final leg of your journey, from Odemira to São Luis, you'll wander far from the crowds and discover the local flora and fauna. Umbria the green heart of Italy

Your adventure begins in the charming town of Passignano sul Trasimeno, where you'll be greeted by stunning views of the lake that shares its name. From here, you’ll set off on a hike to Magione, a town renowned for its impressive castle built by the Knights of Malta, which once provided refuge to pilgrims along the Via Francigena. As the day winds down, enjoy a relaxing train ride along Italy’s largest lake back to Passignano—an ideal time to reflect on your experiences. You'll also hop on the train from Perugia to Bastia Umbra. Along the “Green Way,” or Percorso Verde, you’ll wander beside the picturesque Tescio River, with the iconic Assisi in your sights—a pilgrimage destination for countless travelers. Your journey will culminate as you ascend to the magnificent and celebrated Basilica of San Francesco.

The most spectacular stage of your journey awaits on the third day. As you hike along the ridge path over Monte Subasio, you'll traverse dense forests en route to Spello, a town celebrated for its historic churches and stunning frescoes. Following the Franciscan Way from Foligno, you'll wander through olive groves and gentle hills until you reach Trevi, one of Italy's most beautiful villages. There, on the piazza, you can admire the frescoes of Villa Fabri. Continuing along gentle paths past the Franciscan hermitage, you’ll arrive at the fortified village of Poreta, where you can enjoy breathtaking views before reaching Spoleto. To cap off your day, embark on a loop hike in Spoleto to the hermitage of Saint Francis at Monte Luco. The stunning view of the Ponte delle Torri and the chance to indulge in regional truffle delicacies will be the perfect finale to your journey.

Your journey begins in the charming town of Oberstdorf, where you’ll embark on an athletic adventure right away: Ascend over 1,000 meters to the Mädelejoch, where you’ll cross the German-Austrian border on your very first day. After crossing the spectacular suspension bridge, the route takes you to the picturesque village of Holzgau, where you can admire the vibrant Lüftl murals adorning the façades of the buildings. From there, you’ll venture deep into the Lechtal Alps, passing cozy alpine huts and traversing impressive passes until you reach the famous St. Anton.

Your hike continues along the Lechweg through the idyllic Lechtal, winding past lush green alpine meadows and dense forests. In Warth, you'll find a natural swimming lake and the highest dairy in Vorarlberg. Finally, the last leg of your journey takes you back to Bavaria along the Krumbacher Höhenweg, rewarding you with stunning views of the Allgäu Alps. Starting from the charming town of Riva del Garda, a scenic transfer will whisk you along the breathtaking UNESCO Tunnel Road to the start of your first hiking stage. After a short, enchanting stroll along the mountain cliffs, you’ll arrive in the picturesque Limone sul Garda. Here, indulge in a refreshing lemon gelato as you soak in the stunning vistas of Lake Garda from a cozy boat ride, all while savoring the enchanting atmosphere that makes Italy truly magical.

On historic trails, you’ll journey from Toscolano deep into the valley, passing cascading waterfalls and mountain streams. Stroll south along the scenic promenade of Salò to San Felice, and then take the ferry to the Manerba Peninsula, continuing on to your destination for the day, Desenzano. From there, you'll hike to the highest point of the Vršič Pass, rewarded with a spectacular panorama of the majestic Julian Alps. As you descend to Trenta, the enchanting turquoise Soča River will accompany you along your trail all the way to Bovec. Make a brief detour to the mystical Virje Waterfall, a hidden natural wonder nestled within lush vegetation. From Landeck, a gondola will whisk you up to 2,000 meters, where your adventure begins with a stunning 360° view of the Alps. Good fitness and sure-footedness are essential, especially for the youngest hikers, as daily treks last between 3 and 5 hours and primarily traverse alpine terrain. Next, a bus will take you to the Kaunergrat and the spectacular observation platform known as "Gacher Blick." You'll pass prehistoric cultural sites as you make your way through the high moor to the Vogelturm, where you can admire the Piller Moor Nature Reserve. Continuing through meadows and fields, you'll arrive in the picturesque Pitztal, where you'll spend the night in the heart of Imst.

The next day kicks off with a loop hike to the highest road point in Europe. A scenic trail takes you along the Rettenbach valley, and for the final stretch, the cable car will carry you into the Ötztal. Following ancient smuggler paths and crossing the Timmelsjoch, another cable car brings you into the stunning Passeier Valley, where you’ll enjoy your first evening in Italy.
