All About booking

Everything you need to know about your booking.

Sorry! No FAQs were found. Please try again with a new search term.

We’re happy to personally assist you by phone, email, or in a scheduled online call during our opening hours, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Our team of Travel Specialists is here to support you with expert advice—whether you have questions about a specific tour, destination, or anything else. To ensure we can match you with the best possible advisor and tailor the consultation to your needs, please let us know your preferred destination or topic when booking your online travel consultation.

Our website can only show you a small glimpse of what we offer. That’s why we’d love to tell you more about our cycling tours. Feel free to reach out to us anytime—we look forward to hearing from you!

The quickest and easiest way to book your tour is directly through the booking form on our website. An online booking is a binding request—once it’s confirmed, it automatically becomes a fixed booking.

Of course, you’re also welcome to contact us by phone or email to request a booking.

Your booking is a binding request and becomes a confirmed reservation once we’ve received final confirmation from all service partners.

As soon as you submit your booking request, our Travel Specialists check availability with the accommodations and other partners for your preferred travel date. Within seven business days, you'll receive a booking confirmation and invoice. At that point, your tour is officially booked.

If, unexpectedly, your preferred date or hotel category is unavailable, we’ll offer you an alternative option.

All listed prices are in Euros and represent the base price per person for overnight stays in a double room, including breakfast. Exceptions and additional charges can be found in the price table on the tour pages under “Show all prices.”

Important: Your arrival date determines the season and therefore the room rate! This does not apply to any booked extra nights, which are charged according to the exact dates and the applicable seasonal rate.

Any local tourist taxes or fees are to be paid directly by the traveling guest at the accommodation, usually in cash.

At most starting and ending points of our tours, we offer extra nights or extended stays. For nearly all tours with daily arrivals, extensions are also possible in the stopover towns during the travel—however, only if booked in advance with your original reservation. Please include your requests directly in the online booking form or mention them when contacting us by phone or email.

Extra nights at the start and end locations can usually be booked on short notice.

All details about available extra nights and pricing can be found in the price table or booking form. Exceptions (such as half-board options) are also listed separately in the price table. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us anytime.

Up to four weeks before your arrival date, you can reschedule your travel completely flexibly to a later preferred date or an alternative destination. A rebooking fee of €50 per person* applies.

Find all further information for your safe active vacation here: Complete-Safety-Travel.

*This applies to all Original Tour bookings.

Changes to the number of rooms, room type, hotel category, and meal plan are generally possible up to 14 days before the travel starts—provided the hotels can still accommodate these changes. A rebooking fee of €50 per person applies.

Please note that for travels operated through our partners rather than directly by us, there may be variations in policies.

For more information, please see: Complete-Safety-Travel.

Your deposit can easily be transferred when you change your booking. We will apply it immediately to your new reservation, so the amount remains available for your updated travel.

You can transfer your booked travel to another person up to seven days before the start date. Please note that a processing fee of EUR 50 per person applies for the transfer.

Arrival and departure travel must be arranged individually on your own. You can find more details under the “Services & Info” section for each tour. If you have any questions, we’re here to help with tips—just contact us.

Tip: We recommend using public transportation for a more sustainable way to travel.

All About included services

All information about the services on your hiking holiday.

Sorry! No FAQs were found. Please try again with a new search term.

Ensuring you stay in a pleasant and comfortable environment after a day of hiking is our top priority. We carefully select hotels, guesthouses, and inns that meet high standards of quality. On some tours, we also offer options across different hotel categories.

Occasionally, more basic accommodations may be necessary. Rooms with a shower or bath and a toilet are generally standard (please refer to the “Services & Information” section for any exceptions).

Single rooms can be challenging to secure, particularly in our destinations and even more so in southern regions. Please keep in mind that the single-room supplement covers not only the additional hotel costs but also the extra administrative work involved, including correspondence, invoicing, and travel documents. Despite the extra charge, single rooms are sometimes more modestly furnished and located in less favorable areas of the hotel compared to double rooms.

We transport your luggage from hotel to hotel. On Eurohike Original Tours, there’s no limit to the number of bags you can bring. However, on some partner tours, only one or two pieces of luggage per person will be transferred. Please note that bags weighing more than 20 kg (44 lbs) cannot be transported.

Keep in mind that frequent handling may cause wear and tear. We are not liable for the following:

  • Items not typically considered part of standard travel luggage
  • Cash or other means of payment
  • Cosmetic damage, or damage to handles and wheels (see Section VI/9 of our travel terms and conditions)
  • Damage to luggage that exceeds the 20 kg (44 lbs) weight limit

In some cases—such as when staying in remote mountain huts—luggage transport may not be possible. In these instances, you’ll need to carry your daypack yourself. If this applies to your tour, it will be clearly indicated in the tour description.

The online maps, along with the stage descriptions on the tour page, provide you with a detailed overview of each route. While there may be occasional changes to the exact route or stage locations, these are generally minor and do not significantly affect the overall itinerary.

We strive to offer the trusted Eurohike service at all our destinations. However, some adjustments may be necessary. For instance, breakfasts in southern locations are often simpler. Additionally, punctuality and scheduling may vary and should be understood in that context.

Traveling in foreign countries may sometimes involve variations from the standard Eurohike services, and some of our trusted partner operators may provide slightly different service packages. For more details, please consult the “Services and Information” section of the specific travel package.

On (almost) all original Eurohike tours, you’ll be personally welcomed at your arrival location. Two weeks before your tour begins, we’ll send you an email with our info video, which covers everything you need to know for your upcoming active vacation.

If you still have questions afterward, our local support team is happy to assist you by phone via our service hotline.

If you have questions during your hiking tour, feel free to contact our local support team. You’ll find the contact details of our station managers in the travel documents provided at the reception of your arrival hotel.

The return transfer to the starting point is subject to a fee and should be booked in advance when reserving your tour. It is a shared transfer that departs only at specific scheduled times.

If you’re delayed on arrival due to traffic, schedule changes, or any other reason, don’t worry — you’ll may simply miss the welcome briefing. our travel documents, including the service hotline number, can be collected at the hotel reception. Simply ask the front desk staff.

Since we work on a request basis without fixed room blocks at our partner hotels, you don’t get to pick specific hotels upfront. However, to help you get a clear idea of your accommodations, we list example hotels on the tour details page.

On some tours, you can also choose your preferred room category. Once your booking is confirmed, we’ll handle the hotel arrangements for you. Occasionally, a hotel might no longer be available for your dates, but all our accommodations are carefully selected to meet consistent quality standards.

All About Difficulty Level & Travel Format

You can find all information about our difficulty levels here.

Sorry! No FAQs were found. Please try again with a new search term.

For easier orientation, our hiking tours are divided into four levels of difficulty:

– Moderate Walking: Our Moderate Walking tours are especially recommended for beginners and anyone who wants to focus on relaxation and recovery. You’ll walk on easy-to-follow, well-maintained trails. With some basic stamina and endurance, daily stages with walking times between 3 and up to 4.5 hours offer a pleasant hiking experience.

– Walking: The “Walking” level offers comfortable tours on good paths without any special technical challenges. You’ll walk up to 5 hours daily (sometimes a little longer) with only minor elevation changes. To fully enjoy the entire vacation, good health and a basic level of fitness are recommended.

– Mountain Hiking: On this level, elevation gains and/or distances increase somewhat. You will mostly hike on mountain trails where surefootedness and occasional comfort with heights are required. Daily walking times range from 4 to 6.5 hours, with possible short summit climbs. A good level of fitness is essential to enjoy the mountain trails.

– Trekking: You will hike at altitudes between 1,500 and 2,500 meters on mountain paths and rocky, sometimes exposed trails. Surefootedness, a head for heights, and good endurance are necessary for tours lasting up to 7 hours. Prior mountain experience is required for these tours. In some cases, you’ll carry your own backpack during hut stays, so good equipment is important.

To fully enjoy your walking or hiking tour, you should be free from dizziness and sure-footed starting from the difficulty level "Mountain Hiking." Here is our guidance to define these two terms.

Free from dizziness: This means the ability to safely walk difficult, narrow hiking trails or exposed sections without fear or feeling dizzy.

Sure-footed: This means the ability to move safely on rough terrain. This includes exposed sections, scree, uneven ground, or even wet surfaces.

Our Original Tours are crafted with meticulous attention to detail by our experienced team. Each tour is carefully planned by our product management and regularly reviewed on-site to ensure the highest quality. This guarantees you will stay in exceptional accommodations, have a dedicated local contact, and enjoy reliable luggage transport to your next lodging.

Hiking Tours with Charm are perfect for guests who enjoy active days and look forward to relaxing in a stylish, inviting atmosphere in the evening. These tours are ideal for those who appreciate personalized service and like to unwind in the pool or wellness area.

Each accommodation is carefully selected and offers special extras tailored to the needs of our hiking guests.

When planning our family hiking tours, we carefully select routes with stage lengths and elevation changes that are especially well-suited for children. Each tour is designed to offer the perfect balance of physical activity and natural wonders. The daily stages allow plenty of time for extended breaks and spontaneous adventures along the way.

Whenever possible, we include the option to shorten a stage using public transportation—ideal for families who want to swap a hiking day for another fun activity.

The accommodations we select have experience welcoming hiking families. They provide cozy, spacious rooms and warm, family-friendly hospitality.

Depending on the tour and your child’s level of hiking experience, our family tours are suitable for children as young as six.

All About Equipment

Information about hiking in wind & weather.

Sorry! No FAQs were found. Please try again with a new search term.

While we can’t guarantee sunshine, we’re optimistic your vacation will be blessed with wonderful hiking weather—just as you surely hope!

That said, it’s a good idea to be prepared for cooler days and occasional rain showers. You’ll find gear tips and alternative activities or suggestions for bad weather in your travel documents.

The key to a successful hiking tour lies in good preparation and the right gear for the mountains.

Your hiking equipment should be lightweight and compact. Carrying too much can quickly drain your energy and limit your mobility on the trail. Our tip: layering is the best protection against heat and cold. Always pack a warm jacket or sweater and a rain jacket — mountain weather can change quickly!

Clothing
– Hiking or mountain boots with good tread
– Long and short hiking pants
– Jacket (windproof or windstopper)
– Rain gear
– (Fleece) sweater or pullover
– Warm clothing (hat, gloves, headband)
– Functional shirts / Activewear
– Sports underwear
– Hiking socks
– Head covering (cap or sun hat)
– Neck scarf or multifunctional cloth

Hiking Gear
– Daypack (approx. 20L; for hut tours 25–30L) with rain cover
– Mobile phone and charger or power bank
– Hiking poles (optional)
– First aid kit / blister plasters
– Sunglasses and sunscreen
– Pocketknife
– Reusable water bottle (recommended: 1–2L)
– Snacks (e.g., granola bars, bread, cheese, chocolate, dried fruit)
– Small container or bag for trash & waste
– Seat / cushion for breaks along the trail

You’ll also find a complete travel checklist and more helpful tips here.

A durable, comfortable backpack is an essential part of any hiker’s gear. The size and volume should match the type of tour. We recommend:

– Around 20 L for leisurely walking tours
– Around 32 L if your tour includes an overnight stay in a mountain hut
– Up to 40 L for trekking tours where you carry your own luggage

We offer high-quality backpacks from Vaude (18 L) available for purchase upon request – EUR 89 plus shipping, if applicable.

All About Walking with A Dog

With our information, it will be a fantastic hiking holiday with your four-legged friend.

Sorry! No FAQs were found. Please try again with a new search term.

Hiking with your dog offers a wonderful experience not only for active vacationers craving movement but also for your four-legged companion. Dogs love being outdoors, exploring nature, and sniffing all the scents along the most beautiful hiking trails.

Our self-guided hiking tours are divided into four difficulty levels, ensuring the right amount of activity for every traveler and dog breed. All tours marked with a green paw print have been carefully reviewed by us and are guaranteed dog-friendly. These hikes lead through forests, meadows, or past stunning lakes, with routes always chosen to be suitable for your canine companion.

In our travel search, you can filter all dog-friendly tours under the “Travel Type” category.

On our walking holidays, the Eurohike team ensures that the tour is a complete enjoyment for both you and your pet. This includes expert advice from our travel specialists, dog-friendly hiking routes, and pet-friendly hotels and accommodations throughout your entire journey.

All of our hiking tours that welcome dogs are clearly marked with a green paw print on our website and in our catalog. This makes it easy to quickly see the level of difficulty and confirm that the tour is dog-friendly.

For a smooth and enjoyable hiking experience, we recommend testing your dog’s stamina on shorter day hikes before embarking on a long-distance hike. It’s also a good idea to consult your veterinarian beforehand to make sure the planned tour is safe and comfortable for your four-legged companion. After all, your dog shouldn’t be pushed too hard — just like us, finding the right balance between activity and rest is key.

When booking your walking holiday with your dog, please provide the following information:
– Dog breed
– Weight or size of your dog

If you use the booking form on our website, please indicate the number of dogs traveling with you under “Additional Services.” You can share the breed and weight in step four, in the “Additional Information” comment field. If the number of dogs exceeds the number of travelers, please also note this in the comment field.

We will be happy to register your dog at all hotels and accommodations. Fees for your dog and available services vary depending on the accommodation.

How far and how long you can hike with your dog depends entirely on your individual dog. Factors such as breed, age, and overall health play a significant role.

If you have questions about daily stages, route guidance, or tour details for your chosen hiking tour, our Eurohike travel specialists are happy to assist you.

For a thoroughly enjoyable hike with your dog, we recommend bringing the following equipment:

– A transport crate and dog bed (a collapsible crate is ideal for on-site transport)
– A well-fitting harness
– A leash (long line or regular leash) and muzzle
– A dog brush
– Dog boots (if needed)
– Water and a bowl
– Dog food and treats
– Rain protection in case of wet weather
– A dog blanket for well-deserved breaks
– Dog toys
– Sun protection for your dog (especially for short-haired breeds, it’s a good idea to apply sunscreen to the nose bridge, as dogs can get sunburned too)
– Waste bags
– Medications (e.g., for stomach issues, diarrhea, etc.)
– Information about veterinarians in the vacation area

For even more details and packing tips for hiking with your dog, check out our Eurohike checklist.

In general, how well your dog handles hiking depends entirely on their individual traits—no two dogs of the same breed are exactly alike, and energy levels can vary widely. That said, some breeds are known for being particularly energetic and genuinely love spending time outdoors.

Here’s a selection of dog breeds that are especially well-suited for hiking adventures:
– Australian Shepherd: A true all-rounder when it comes to physical activity. This breed loves sports, has great stamina, and is highly agile.

– Border Collie: An extremely active breed that thrives on outdoor exercise. Whether it’s hiking or biking, they crave action and movement.

– Weimaraner: Known for being a highly agile hiking companion, Weimaraners have strong muscles, are very obedient, and relish time spent in nature.

– Magyar Vizsla: This athletic and nimble Hungarian pointer handles long hikes with ease and, thanks to their friendly nature, makes a popular companion on the trail.

– Dalmatian: Famous for endurance, stamina, and a friendly temperament, Dalmatians love nothing more than a nature hike, with plenty of time for sniffing breaks.

– Labrador Retriever: Another obedient and athletic breed, Labradors are full of energy and enjoy getting plenty of exercise on hikes with their owners.

– Jack Russell Terrier: Small but full of stamina, this breed keeps pace effortlessly and makes a great hiking partner despite its size.

– Husky: Long hours of hiking? No problem for a Husky! In fact, regular, continuous exercise is essential for them. Even when you’re ready to rest, they’ll still be eager and full of energy to keep going.

For all international travel, including travel to non-EU countries, carrying the EU Pet Passport is mandatory. This document verifies that your dog is chipped and vaccinated against rabies. Depending on the destination, additional requirements may apply—such as a rabies antibody blood test, tapeworm treatment, or an official veterinary health certificate.

Be sure to check the specific regulations for your travel destination well in advance to ensure a smooth border crossing.

If you are stopped at the border, you will need the following documents for your dog:
EU Pet Passport

Please make sure to check the specific regulations for your travel destination before you depart.

For traveling with your dog within the EU, you need the following documents:
– EU Pet Passport (available from your veterinarian): You must be listed as the accompanying person, and the microchip number must be registerd. The rabies vaccination must also be documented.
– Proof of a valid rabies vaccination (the initial vaccination must have been given at least 21 days before travel)
– Your dog must be at least 15 weeks old.
– Your dog must be microchipped with a chip that meets ISO standard 11784.

For travel outside the EU, different regulations may apply. Please check the entry requirements and local regulations of your destination well in advance.

All About Sustainability

Find out more about our sustainability initiatives.

Sorry! No FAQs were found. Please try again with a new search term.

Although walking holidays are naturally the most environmentally friendly way to travel, some CO₂ emissions are still generated during an active vacation. For example, your accommodation consumes electricity and energy for heating and air conditioning, and luggage transfers also produce CO₂ emissions.

Using the CO₂ calculator “Carmacal,” specially developed for travel operators, we calculate the ecological footprint generated and offset it through one of our climate projects.

For the most sustainable travel to your destination, we recommend using public transportation. You can find our tips here!

You’ll need to arrange your transfer to the hotel independently. The quickest and most convenient option from the airport or train station is usually by taxi. Alternatively, local buses are available. You’ll find detailed instructions and tips in your travel documents to help you along the way.

Sustainability and climate-conscious practices are deeply integrated into our daily operations. As a provider of nature-focused hiking travel, protecting the environment and treating nature with respect are core values and the foundation of our work. You can find an overview of our initiatives here.

Join us in promoting greater sustainability by choosing our digital route book instead of the printed version. As a small thank-you, you’ll receive a EUR 20 discount per room.
