Hiking break at the Leutascher Ache

Eight days full of unforgettable mountain adventures - that's what our mountain hiking tour from Garmisch to Merano guarantees. On foot you will discover wonderful hiking trails between Bavaria, Tyrol and South Tyrol. The routes lead past traditional alpine huts, tranquil mountain landscapes, as well as impressive gorges and high areas. The enjoyment of these three countries will also win you over, and there will certainly be time to taste the Bavarian, Austrian and South Tyrolean cuisine.

You start your cross-border hiking tour in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. After a leisurely exploration of the town and a typical Bavarian meal, you will hike on the first day through the impressive Partnachklamm, over the Wamberg to the Elmauer Alm and finally to the day’s stage destination in Mittenwald. On the following day, the route takes you across the state border into the wonderful mountain world of Tyrol. After a restful night in Leutasch, on the fourth day you hike through quiet forests to the Buchener Höhe and down into the Inntal valley. After this stage, you will spend the night in Nauders. After a cable car ride to the Mutzkopf, your fifth hiking day can begin. Today's tour takes you to the three-country border stone of Austria, Italy and Switzerland. The tour continues to the picturesque Lake Resia with the sunken church in South Tyrol. The last two days of hiking have plenty of nature and culinary delights in store for you. The route leads on foot along varied hiking and irrigation channels from Resia to Naturno and on the last day to the spa town of Merano.

  • The sunken church of Lake Resia: The Lake Resia in Vinschgau is six kilometres long. It sits in the mountain scenery of the quaint Langtauferer Valley. And in the middle of the crystal-clear water you will find a sunken church tower. It’s worth a visit to find out about the tower in the lake!
  • The Sissi city of Merano: A magical little spa town that was once considered a luxury resort. The reason: Austrian Empress Sisi paid a visit to the pretty city in 1870.
  • Three countries in one tour: From Germany to Austria and Italy, you are travelling through three countries, and each is more impressive than the last.

Have you always wanted to cross the Alps by foot, but without sacrificing any comfort? Then our mountain hiking tour with luggage transport is just right for you. The hiking routes between Garmisch and Merano run along good mountain and hiking trails. With a good basic level of fitness, endurance and surefootedness, the daily hikes of up to five hours will be an enjoyable adventure in nature in Bavaria, Tyrol and South Tyrol. Note: Some of the routes can also be shortened using public transport. Experience even more comfort on our hiking holiday from Garmisch to Meran with Charm.

Our hiking tip: This hiking tour is also ideal for hiking with a dog.
