To enter Austria with a dog, you need the following documents / vaccinations:

  • EU- pet passport
  • Microchipping your dog
  • Proof of a valid rabies vaccination (the first dose must have been given at least 21 days before the trip)
  • For puppies under 12 weeks of age or puppies between 12 and 16 weeks of age who have had a rabies vaccination but have not yet completed 21 days to achieve vaccination protection: in this case it is necessary to carry a statement from a licensed veterinarian confirming this that the puppy has so far only been kept at its place of birth. Alternatively, entry will be approved, if the puppy is accompanied by its mother dog.

Your dog can be checked when entering Austria. Please bring all necessary documents such as EU pet passport with you. You must be noted as an accompanying person in this passport and your dog’s microchip number must be entered. The rabies vaccination must also be noted. Please inform yourself about the relevant regulations in your holiday destination before you start your journey.
