With this tour, Eurohike is dedicating itself to a very special region of Austria, the beauty of which already fascinated Empress Sissi: the Salzkammergut. Imposing mountains, glittering lakes and charming towns await you here over five days. In addition, the excellent Austrian cuisine - from schnitzel to pastries - and the special hospitality. You will come home with fully charged batteries and enjoy the grandiose impressions for a long time to come.
The starting point of the trip is the village of Fuschl am See. On the very first day, the stage leads to the Wartenfels ruins and, if desired, to the Schober. The ascent is short and demanding, but the view from the summit will instantly make you forget any effort. Promised!
Don't miss the chance to hop into one (or more) of the crystal-clear lakes of the Salzkammergut. Attersee, Schwarzensee and finally to Wolfgangsee - stage 3 leads from lake to lake and offers lush meadows and peaceful alpine pastures in between. Finally, the imperial city of Bad Ischl is waiting for you, the highlights here include the Imperial Villa, the Katrin cable car and the spa gardens. Enjoy the imperial flair with a longer and a piece of cake (here you can still find a traditional “k.u.k. Hofzuckerbäckerei”) before heading back to Fuschl.
Hiking as in a picture book: In terms of landscape, the Salzkammergut simply has it all! The characteristic mountains that offer great (but not too difficult) tours. In between, crystal clear lakes as far as the eye can see and green alpine pastures, where huts invite you to take a break.
The most beautiful peaks of the Salzkammergut: From Schober to Schafberg and from Feuerkogel to Grünberg - from the lofty heights you have particularly great views.
Blue glittering lakes in abundance: Mondsee, Attersee, Irrsee, Wolfgangsee - you are spoiled for choice. In addition to swimming and bathing, water sports can also be tried. Diving, water skiing and stand-up paddling, the Attersee is known as the Caribbean of the Salzkammergut!
Discover the highlights of the Salzkammergut on a hike: The famous White Horse Inn, the imperial town of Bad Ischl, the large Attersee, the famous Schafberg or the idyllic Blinklingmoos nature reserve. On this tour you will find deceleration, but with the many attractions you are guaranteed not to be bored.
The tour is very varied with many great viewpoints along the paths. You should plan around four to six hours for the various stages; a good physical condition makes it easier for you. Ferry trips are included on Lake Wolfgang, the tour can be supplemented with a boat trip.
In the Salzkammergut, you climb peaks and jump into crystal clear lakes. Try out a water sport at the Attersee or Mondsee. In the imperial town of Bad Ischl, a visit to Café Zauner is worthwhile - our tip: Cremeschnitte!
Step by step you climb to the ruin ‚Wartenfels’ with beautiful views of the lakes Mondsee and Irrsee. If you want, you can also climb the Schober peak. From here, you get a magnificent panoramic view of the lakes and mountains in the Salzkammergut region.
In the morning you go by bus to Unterach at lake Attersee. From there you follow the lakeside walk and through the Burggrabenklamm up to alpine pastures to idyllic lake Schwarzensee. Stop for some homemade pastries at Lore’s cabin on the lake. Continue downhill to lake Wolfgangsee.
Along the lake through the natural reserve Blinklingmoos with views across the lake onto St. Wolfgang and the remarkable peaks of the Schafberg mountain. After that you follow the gushing waters of river Ischl and on the Sissi trail to tiny lake Nussensee close to the Imperial summer residence Bad Ischl. By bus back to Fuschl am See.
You mainly walk along lakes and across alpine pastures. Several low summits offer scenic views and therefore you should be surefooted. A good fitness level for ascents and longer walking stages up to 5.5 hours are required.
