Alentejo

The Alentejo region in southern Portugal is highly valued by those seeking tranquility, as it is far less known than the Algarve or the popular cities of Lisbon and Porto. Pristine nature reserves, the wild Atlantic coastline, and authentic fishing villages give Alentejo its unique character.

The Rota Vicentina long-distance hiking trail spans approximately 263 kilometers, stretching from Alentejo to the southwestern tip of Portugal. Over 10 days, you will hike from the fishing village of Vila Nova de Milfontes along the Atlantic coast to Almograve, Zambujeira do Mar, and Odeceixe. Towering cliffs provide dramatic views of the deep blue ocean, while the trail winds past secluded beaches, fragrant pine forests, and scenic coastal paths into the Algarve. At Cabo de São Vicente, the southwesternmost point of Europe, you will witness some of the continent’s most breathtaking sunsets.

The Algarve – Based in One Hotel Tour offers a delightful active getaway, featuring six day hikes from Tavira through the region’s unspoiled natural landscapes. This journey invites you to slow down, take in the scenery, and experience Portuguese hospitality in the charming fishing villages of Cabanas, Santa Luzia, and Fuzeta.

Or would you prefer to hike along the rugged coastline, accompanied by the refreshing sea breeze? The Algarve Coastal Hiking Tour begins in the stunning old town of Lagos and follows the Atlantic coast from west to east.
