What our guests say

Tavira is an excellent centre for hiking due to its beautiful location, many sights and typical restaurants. The Ilha de Tavira with its unique sandy beach, the huge salt marshes and the ‘Ceramica’ walk impressed us the most.

In the many authentic fishing villages beyond the tourist crowds, a relaxed way of life blends with picturesque alleyways and time-honored traditions. Throughout the year, the people of the Algarve celebrate numerous folk and religious festivals. Carnival season brings parades across the region, with the largest taking place in Loulé. The Algarve is also renowned for its rich artisanal heritage, with pottery, ceramics, and handcrafted cork bags and lamps adorning local shops.

Culinary delights in the Algarve

As expected from a coastal region, the Algarve's cuisine is deeply influenced by fish. Bacalhau à Brás is one of the most beloved local dishes, featuring a delightful mix of cod, potatoes, eggs, and olives. Another must-try is Arroz de Marisco, a dish reminiscent of seafood risotto. Don’t miss the flavorful Cataplana, which could be considered Portugal’s answer to the Asian wok. Fish, meat, or seafood are simmered with potatoes, peppers, and onions in a savory stew. Simply heavenly!
