Every day a new, cool lake? With Ten Lakes Trekking in the Austrian Salzkammergut every day you can refresh your feet in a new lake. The trekking tour from Eurohike takes you from west to east, from the charming Fuschlsee to Bad Aussee. The ten-day hiking tour takes you to the border between Salzburg and Upper Austria and to perhaps the most beautiful parts of the region. Alongside the hiking fun you can spend an hour or two enjoying the varied cuisine. For example, the pastries in the Imperial town of Bad Ischl. While hiking in the mountains without luggage in the World Heritage region of Dachstein-West, you can also enjoy magnificent views of the lake district.
The lakes in the Salzkammergut are at times vast and imposing and at times hidden and tranquil. From the world-famous Halstättersee to the small, quaint Gosausee they are all surrounded by mountains: embark on a trekking holiday with Eurohike in one of Austria's most impressive natural landscapes. A short detour leads to the lovely Ausseerland and through the wild and romantic Koppental.
10 lakes of the Salzkammergut: Fiblingsee, Fuschlsee, Mondsee, Irrsee, Attersee, Wolfgangsee, Schwarzensee, Nussensee, Hallstättersee, Gosausee
World Heritage site of Hallstatt: There’s hardly a lake panorama that is so well-known as that of the World Heritage Site of Hallstatt. Let yourself be mesmerised by its charm!
Close to nature in Ausseerland: On the hiking tour through the Ausseerland you will feel as though time has stood still, the nature is so well preserved.
Historic Bad Ischl: In the Imperial town you can still experience the charm of Sissi and Franz.
Your trekking adventure in the Salzkammergut begins in Fuschl am See with your arrival. Tip: Treat yourself to a slice of cake by the lake – in Restaurant Brunnwirt or the Seewinkel for example. The next ten days are all about the sparkling lakes of Salzburg and Upper Austria. But also the mountains! The daily tours are between 12 and 22 kilometres long and also take you over mountain peaks. So you can fully enjoy the tour, a good basic level of fitness is an advantage. Eurohike's personal service also includes detailed travel documents and maps!
In one of the most picturesque hiking regions, you will enjoy imposing peaks and the cool waters of ten lakes. Culinary delights and culture complete the tour, for example at Fuschl Castle, the White Horse Inn or Wartenfels ruins.
Short summit hike to Lake Filbilingsee and across a ridge down to Fuschl castle. This castle served as a backdrop to the well known Sissi films. A comfortable walk along the lake takes you back to Fuschl.
Step by step you climb to the ruin ‚Wartenfels’ with beautiful views of the lakes Mondsee and Irrsee. If you want, you can also climb the Schober peak. From here, you get a magnificent panoramic view of the lakes and mountains in the Salzkammergut region.
In the morning you go by bus to Unterach at lake Attersee. From there you follow the lakeside walk and through the Burggrabenklamm up to alpine pastures to idyllic lake Schwarzensee. Stop for some homemade pastries at Lore’s cabin on the lake. Continue downhill to lake Wolfgangsee.
Along the lake through the natural reserve Blinklingmoos with views across the lake onto St. Wolfgang and the remarkable peaks of the Schafberg mountain. After that you follow the gushing waters of river Ischl and on the Sissi trail to tiny lake Nussensee close to the Imperial summer residence Bad Ischl.
Along the historic brine pipeline trail you walk into Rettenbach valley and up to alpine pasture Blaa alp at the foot of the Loser massif into the Ausseerland.
Along the river banks of the Traun the path leads to the traditional summer holiday place Bad Aussee and then through the wild and idyllic Koppental valley where you can visit the Koppenbrueller caves. Take the boat to the world heritage town Hallstatt with its many sights.
Take the cable car on the Salzberg (salt mountain) of Hallstatt with the famous excavation site, namegiver to a prehistoric era as well as the salt mine. Past the summit Plassen you cross over to Gosautal valley. The imposing Dachstein massif and the ragged peaks of Gosaukamm are constant companions of this day. Bus ride back to Hallstatt.
Take the boat across Lake Hallstätter See and follow the east bank to Bad Goisern. Along the brine pipeline trail you walk to Bad Ischl , then by bus to Fuschl on Lake Fuschl.
You mainly walk along lakes and across alpine pastures. Several low summits offer scenic views and therefore you should be surefooted. A good fitness level for ascents and longer walking stages up to 6 hours are required.
