We’re Certified

It’s official: We’re proud to announce that we’ve been certified by Travelife as a sustainable tour operator.

Travelife Certification: Officially on the Path to Sustainability

As a nature-focused tour operator, sustainability and environmental awareness aren’t just priorities — they’re part of who we are. That’s why we’re especially proud to have received official recognition through our Travelife certification. To earn this distinction, we met 261 criteria across a wide range of areas — from sustainability management and collaboration with accommodations and local partners to customer communication and consumer protection.

The path to certification has been an intensive one, marked by the implementation of numerous initiatives. These include energy-saving measures, responsible resource use, eco-friendly practices in both our offices and on our tours, emissions management, consumer protection, social responsibility, human rights, and more.

As part of this process, we’re rolling out targeted initiatives designed to move our organization step by step toward more sustainable thinking and action. To foster this mindset across the team, we’re investing in staff training and regular internal updates — laying the foundation for every team member to actively contribute.

Sustainability isn’t a one-time achievement — it’s a continuous journey. We remain committed to expanding our efforts and turning new ideas into action. Many promising projects are already in the works, and we look forward to bringing them to life.

Our Projects

Traveling More Sustainably with Our New E-Buses

At Eurohike, we’re increasingly committed to eco-friendly mobility solutions — including in our luggage logistics. A key step in this effort is the introduction of electric vehicles for our luggage transfers and bike deliveries. E-mobility is not only a forward-looking concept but also an active contribution to responsible, sustainable tourism. Our electric vehicles are primarily used on shorter transfer routes, such as at our stations along the Danube and in Obertrum. With our new e-buses, our station staff can operate efficiently, quietly, and with zero emissions.

We’re thrilled to enhance our sustainability efforts every day on our tours with the addition of new e-buses. These electric vehicles are ideally suited for shorter luggage transfer routes, helping us cut emissions and eliminate exhaust pollution —all while ensuring our logistics remain smooth, efficient, and dependable.

From our team

Trash & Litter Cleanup for a Cleaner Obertrum

At the beginning of spring, our sustainability team gathered a group of eager Eurohike employees. The goal: to clear the nature around our location in the beautiful Salzburger Seenland of trash and all kinds of litter. As part of the "Clean Obertrum" campaign, we wanted to do our part for a cleaner community. So we set out and collected cans, glass bottles, plastic waste, and countless cigarette butts from the meadows and paths surrounding our home.

Sustainable Clothing for Our Team

In the social sphere, we are pleased to announce a new partnership: We are proud to collaborate with the Geschützte Werkstätten – Integrative Betriebe Salzburg, an inclusive employer providing a supportive and nurturing work environment for over 500 people, with and without health challenges. Our Eurohike team is thrilled to receive high-quality new hoodies, carefully crafted by the dedicated employees of GWS. These garments are made from organic cotton, are GOTS-certified, and bear the Fair Wear Foundation label, guaranteeing fair and socially responsible working conditions.
