The employees' favourite places in South Tyrol

We show you where our employees have found their favourite place.
Two hikers on a footbridge in front of the church tower of Altgraun in Lake Reschen

Once a year, our employees have the opportunity to go on an ‘Employee on Tour’ trip. This allows them to enjoy an extra week's holiday and experience one of our hiking destinations up close and actively - to get to know, discover and enjoy. This is great fun and we ourselves experience an Eurohike hiking holiday from the perspective of our valued guests.

On the occasion of our 20th Eurohike anniversary this year, we are delighted to present to you the FAVOURITE PLACES of our employees in detail.

MY FAVORITE PLACE: The Pietra Rara accommodation

The Pietra Rara accommodation is definitely my favourite place of the wonderful hiking trip Lake Garda - Venice (part 1). It dates back to 1760, has been beautifully restored and was our favourite accommodation on this trip. The rooms were furnished with attention to detail, each with a different style. The location of the B&B is perfect. Close to Lake Garda, surrounded by beautiful nature and, above all, away from the tourist crowds. We received a very warm welcome from the owner and were immediately invited to a wine tasting so that we could savour the Teroldego wine.

MY FAVORITE PLACE: Malettes giant swing

My girlfriend and I easily agreed on our favorite place in the Val Venosta Valley in South Tyrol: the oversized panoramic swing, a wooden swing about two and a half metres high that gives you the feeling of flying over the valley as you swing. When we saw it, a broad grin immediately appeared on our faces. Here, even the really big ones become children again!

Garmisch - Merano

EMPLOYEE: Tanja Haring
MY FAVORITE PLACE: Bench with a view

There is a lot to see and experience on this hiking tour from Garmisch to Merano. One small but really idyllic spot stands out in particular: on the path from Reschen to Naturns, which can almost be described as a treetop path, there is a nice bench. The view of the surrounding mountains, the vineyards and the small villages in the valley is simply marvellous and makes our hiking hearts beat faster. Perfect for a snack break or just to pause for a moment and enjoy nature.

Merano - Lake Garda

MY FAVORITE PLACE: Bar Centrale in Don

The Bar Centrale, an unassuming bar at first glance, is the only place to stop for a bite to eat in the small mountain village of Don in South Tyrol and gives you the feeling of having really arrived in Italy. While ordering delicious coffee and regional pastries, we can put our Italian language skills to the test and simply enjoy ourselves.

Lake Resia - Merano

EMPLOYEE: Sarah Manglberger
MY FAVORITE PLACE: Wooden bench on the stage to Merano

The Lake Resia - Merano journey has numerous scenic highlights to offer that will make any hiker's heart beat faster. My absolute favourite spot, however, is an inconspicuous little wooden bench by the side of the path on the stage from Naturns to Merano. We happened to sit down on it for a short rest and were surprised by the breathtaking view. With the destination of Merano almost within reach and the gently rippling water channel of the Algunder Waalweg in the background, you can really enjoy the view and look back with pride on many wonderful kilometres of hiking.

South Tyrol for families

EMPLOYEE: Michael Kröll
MY FAVORITE PLACE: Waalweg in the Matschertal

Even though the Waalweg trails are constant companions throughout the entire hiking tour, the Waalweg trail through the wooded Matschertal valley to the water supply is something very special. From a small pond, you hike up adventurous paths to the end of the valley and through the gorge of the Saldur stream back towards Schluderns - make sure you take advantage of our option and don't miss my favourite spot!
