Wanderlust from Merano to Lake Garda

A dream for all mountain lovers

If you love the adventure of outdoor travelling and enjoy moving from place to place, then you will be familiar with the famous quote: ‘The journey is the reward.’ We have organised many of our trips according to this motto - until now. But our experience with the Eurohike tour from Merano to Riva del Garda has shown us a new side to travelling: the ease and enjoyment of a perfectly organised hiking trip. With luggage transport, detailed travel documents and pre-booked accommodation, everything was taken care of. All we had to do was pack our rucksacks, get on the train to Merano - and the rest went by itself. Every stage was impressive and always provided special moments.

Join us on this individual hiking trip and discover how the Eurohike tour has redefined our understanding of travelling. I will take you on a journey through the impressive landscapes of south tyrol - and show you why this tour was something very special for me.

Merano - Nalles: variety on every kilometre

The tour offered an incredible variety of landscapes - not only in the views, but also on the paths we took. Our path often led us along water: rushing rivers, thundering waterfalls, idyllic lakes and babbling village fountains - a welcome refreshment in the heat of July. We were particularly impressed by the Marlinger Waalweg trail on the first day, when we left Merano behind us and hiked to Nalles/Nals. This route had a charm all of its own.

The days were long and by the end of the week we were feeling the kilometres in our legs. But every step was worth it. With every stage we walked, the joy of what we had experienced grew - and the satisfaction of having mastered this challenge.

Culinary delights along the way at Lake Kaltern

When our strength waned, the delicious South Tyrolean and Italian cuisine provided us with new energy. At the beginning of the tour, we enjoyed hearty specialities from South Tyrol, but as we approached Lake Garda, more and more Italian delights were served.

The variety was impressive: fresh apple strudel, aromatic wines, savoury canederli (South Tyrolean dumplings), wafer-thin slices of carne salada - and much more. Every meal was a delight that not only fortified us, but also enriched the whole travelling experience. The flavours and delicacies were as memorable as the landscapes - a perfect combination of pleasure and adventure.

Experience & discover South Tyrolean culture

Another highlight of our trip was experiencing the local culture. South Tyrol, an autonomous province of Italy, belonged to Austria until the First World War and is still characterised by both cultures today. German is still an official and widely spoken language - often mixed with Italian expressions and strong dialects.

As a non-native speaker of German, this linguistic diversity was an exciting challenge for me. Every exchange with the locals was a little adventure and made the trip even more authentic. The immersion in these cultural peculiarities gave our hike an additional depth - it became much more than just a beautiful path through nature.

An unforgettable experience

At the end of our Eurohike tour, we looked back on a wealth of impressions. Breathtaking landscapes, the delicious mix of South Tyrolean and Italian cuisine, in-depth cultural experiences and comfortable accommodation - all this made this trip something very special. This hike was far more than just a series of stages. It was a harmonious combination of nature, culture and comfort - an experience that will stay with us for a long time. Whether you are an experienced hiker or want to try a new way of travelling: The Eurohike tour promises an unforgettable experience that will thrill body and soul alike.

My favourite place

My favourite spot on the holiday was a hidden gem just as there was an opening in the forest, where the trees suddenly gave way to a breathtaking view of Lake Molveno. The shimmering water, bathed in sunlight, looked almost magical. The tranquillity of the location was perfect, with the gentle sounds of birds and insects adding to the peaceful atmosphere. The mountains rising majestically in the background created a stunning contrast, making it a truly unforgettable place to pause and soak in the beauty of nature.
