My career & more about me
Travel and Studies
After graduating from high school in Munich, I worked as a ski instructor in the Dolomites. During my studies (Intercultural Communication), I traveled extensively, but always with work-related projects: mountain bike guiding across the Alps, outdoor and cycling courses for the Youth Alpine Club, tour guiding for trips to Iceland and Syria for individuals with disabilities, and leading cycling tours in Southern Italy. Additionally, I have been involved in endurance sports and cycling races since my youth, often traveling for competitions. During my studies, I spent over a year in Finland, where I conducted a culture shock experiment, taught in a school, and went on numerous trekking and cycling tours in Lapland. And because I've always been a bit 'mountain-crazy,' I spent an incredible amount of time on long-distance hiking trails and in mountain huts... ski mountaineering and crossing mountain ranges - that was my world!
Before Eurofun
After successfully completing my studies, I went on two (self-organized) expeditions in Bolivia, where I was able to climb numerous peaks above 6,000 meters. For two years, I enjoyed working on Alpine Club huts, purely for the joy of being in the mountains, often carrying countless egg cartons and loaves of bread on skis across high plateaus... Whenever time allows now, I still work as a cross-country skiing guide for the visually impaired and am thrilled when those with visual impairments can find joy in winter sports. I am happy to support them in this endeavor. I still enjoy some assignments as a mountain hiking guide and snowshoe guide, but currently, I am most passionate about the diverse roles I have at Eurofun.
At Eurofun
For over 15 years, I have been a part of the Eurohike team. In the beginning, I worked exclusively as a mountain hiking guide and tour leader for guided tours. Back then, I was mostly with Australians, French, Norwegians, and Irish in the Dachstein and Hochkönig regions, in the Salzkammergut, and in Tyrol. It was a fun time, but such assignments are very intensive!
Over time, I began to contribute more and more of my creative ideas and my experience in tour planning and organizing hikes. This led to the development of the first projects for new trips. It's a very diverse and challenging field! It involves not only physical fitness in the mountains and group supervision but also research, organization, route planning, and map analysis. Technical skills (GPS and computer programs, calculation tools) are essential, as well as flexibility, resilience, and effective communication while on the road. Endurance and readiness to embark on sometimes adventurous journeys to new places are highly sought after!
