From Slovenia’s most famous winter sports resort, you first reach Lake Jasna, where the clear waters reflect the surrounding mountains. The hike continues uphill to the Vršič Pass, Slovenia’s highest mountain pass, offering breathtaking alpine panoramas. On the descent to Trenta, you can explore the source of the Soča River, where its crystal-clear waters emerge and flow into the turquoise Soča. Today’s stage is another one of the tour’s highlights where you’ll explore the enchanting Virje Waterfall, a hidden gem nestled in lush greenery, and shortly after, the mighty Boka Waterfall—one of Slovenia’s tallest and most powerful, where torrents of water crash dramatically into the depths. The trail takes you through dense forests and along the sparkling Soča River, passing idyllic swimming spots and stunning natural scenery, before arriving in the charming town of Kobarid. This day perfectly combines adventure, nature, and unforgettable views.

A short transfer takes you to the start of today’s hike. From Drežnica, you ascend to the Italian chapel at 1,220 m (4,003 ft)—a quiet place of remembrance with breathtaking views over the Soča Valley and the Kolovrat ridge. You continue across blooming alpine meadows to the high pastures of Kuhinja, where you can refuel with local specialties, before gently descending through deciduous forests and quaint villages. On the final stretch, the trail follows the Soča River all the way to Tolmin.

Starting in Tolmin, the trail winds through dense forests up to the long ridgeline of the Kolovrat, reaching the summit at 1,200 m (3,937 ft), where World War I trenches bear witness to the past. From here, enjoy breathtaking views of the Julian Alps and the Friulian lowlands. After a short descent, you reach the Italian border and Rifugio Solarie, where a rest stop awaits before a transfer takes you directly to Cividale.
