Panoramic view of Riva on Lake Garda

Lakes, mountains, rivers and charming cities, historical sites and cultural gems – the active tour from Lake Garda to Venice has everything a hiker’s heart desires. The whole thing is topped by the delicious Italian cuisine and warm hospitality. Enjoy your evenings after each hiking stage with antipasti, pizza and spritzer – are you ready?

First, savour the Mediterranean atmosphere in Riva del Garda before the 1st stage leads to Pietramurata. The landscape changes quickly, from the wine-growing region to a rocky area to vegetable fields. No less varied is the enchanting Trento, on the historic ‘Via Claudia Augusta’ to Levico Terme.

Further highlights and stage destinations are an open-air nature art exhibition, the traditional Borgo Valsugana, the ‘Alta Via del Tobacco’ and Bassano del Grappa. On the last stage you hike in the nature park along the river Sile to Quarto d’Altino, where you finally go by train to the lagoon city.

  • Mediterranean flair on Lake Garda: The delightful lakeside promenades and charming towns invite you to take a stroll. In between, a cappuccino or gelato in one of the many cafes – is that what heaven on earth looks like?
  • Culture and tradition in historic town centres: Whether it is the thermal baths of Levico, the grappa distilleries and ceramic workshops in Bassano or the architecture in Trento, the destinations of this hiking tour have a lot to offer.
  • Hight-altitude trails with unique views: The ‘Alta Via del Tobacco’ is just one of the grandiose high-altitude trails on the tour. Where tobacco used to be grown, today you can enjoy the view over the fantastic mountains.
  • Sparkling lakes and rivers: Brenta, Sile, Sarca and the Adige are all rivers that cross the hiking trails of this tour and where the air is doubly refreshing. You can cool off by jumping into one (or more) of the many lakes, such Lago di Caldonazzo.
  • Lagoons, canals and gondoliers in the World Heritage Site of Venice: The beauty of this city can hardly be put into words! Just let yourself drift through the alleys, browse through the delightful boutiques and marvel at the impressive palazzi.

The stages have a length of between 13 and 17 kilometres (3.5 to 5 hours) and are mostly easy to hike. The hiking paths are well developed and the routes are flexible. The diverse landscape on this tour offers numerous highlights, especially with regards to the varied natural scenery. Train and bus journeys complement the footpaths to bring you reliably to your destination.
