Hiking break with a view of the sea in Friuli

The Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a real ‘insider tip’ for hikers. Impressive natural spectacles, cultural diversity and gastronomic delicacies await you on your way from the Julian Alps to the sea. You will visit the famous place of pilgrimage on Monte Lussari and climb to the top of the Cima del Cacciatore. On Monte Cuarnan’s beautiful panorama path, you will see the white sandbanks of river Tagliamento, one of the last wild rivers and a very special highlight of your tour. Castles and historic old towns await you in the Collio region. The Trieste Karst takes you along coastal paths with sea views to the fantastic port city of Trieste. Finally, there is a circuit in the rocky nature reserve of the Val Rosandra up to the border with Slovenia.

The starting point of your eight-day hiking tour is the mountain village of Tarvis. Your first adventure awaits here with a stunning circular hike to the pilgrimage site on Monte Lussari. On the third day of your hiking tour, you will first visit the picturesque village of Venzone and later continue over the summit of Monte Cumieli to Gemona. Especially noteworthy is the Centro Storico, a medieval town center with beautiful palaces, traditional arcades, and typical frescoes. The following day, you'll continue to Udine, where museums, an art gallery, numerous cafe bars, and, of course, shopping opportunities await you. Look forward to a fantastic stage the next day. It will take you through the wine-growing region of Collio to Gradisca d'Isonzo, and the day after that, you'll arrive in the picturesque port city of Trieste. The journey there is impressive, and the port city will captivate you. To conclude, on the last day, you'll embark on a round hike towards Slovenia, where you'll hike to the ridge of Monte Stena and see all the way from the summit cross to Trieste – simply breathtaking!

  • Magical pilgrimage site Monte Lussari: Right on the first stage of your hiking tour, a special highlight awaits you - a visit to the pilgrimage site with the pilgrimage church on the sacred mountain Monte Lussari. The panorama is also unique - take a moment to savor this special experience.
  • Italian delight in Udine: You can enjoy the typical Italian flair in the charming and second-largest city in the region, along with a cappuccino, a delightful glass of local wine, and creamy gelato. Udine not only offers cozy cafe bars and restaurants but is also a true cultural highlight. Plus, shopping enthusiasts will find plenty to explore in the old town.
  • Time for culture in Trieste: The last two days of your hiking tour are spent in the port city of Trieste. Look forward to a beautiful city with numerous noteworthy highlights such as Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia, Castello di Miramare, the Cathedral of Trieste, and much more.
