View of the Sommerstein

Lace up your hiking boots, because this tour has it all! You hike through the Pinzgau, Salzburg's largest district, where not only lots of wonderful panoramic views await. Numerous three-thousand-metre peaks and various mountains in Austria, from the Steinerne Meer to the Kitzbühel Alps, meet idyllic alpine villages and culinary delights that will make your mouth water. Enjoy this challenging tour that will unite your body and mind!

With the “Pinzgau Walk”, the journey of around 17 km starts with an absolute highlight. Here it’s really high, because the high-altitude hike is at around 1,600 to 2,000 metres. Wonderful views and rustic huts await the hard-working hikers as a reward.

Next, the famous Schwalbenwand with its two peaks is waiting to be hiked by you. Direct your gaze from above to the Steinerne Meer, the Leoganger Steinberge or the Hohe Tauern. Down the valley you go to Maria Alm, a delightful village, just as you would imagine in the Salzburg Alps. On day 4, you finally go up to the Steinerne Meer with impressive views, including the majestic Lichtenberg Castle. We also recommend this hiking tour with your dog.

  • Well-known holiday regions: In addition to the hiking routes, enjoy the lively villages of Zell am See, Saalbach and Maria Alm in summer.
  • Panoramic high-altitude hikes: Lush alpine pastures, rocky routes and fresh mountain air - soak up this special atmosphere. The highlights are undoubtedly the panoramic views, which could easily have sprung from a picture book.
  • Views of Austria's highest peaks: the Großglockner, the Kitzsteinhorn and around 30 other “three-thousand-metre peaks” show their concentration during the high-altitude hike of the “Pinzgauer Walk”.
  • Austrian cosiness & culinary delicacies: Hiking brings lots of opportunities to take a break. In the many hospitable huts, Pinzgauer Kasnocken, Krapfen and the likes await!

The stages of the 5-day tour are easily manageable with a length of 13 to 17 km, but the routing of the high-altitude hiking trails is quite demanding. You should plan up to six hours for the day tours, although there are leisurely alternative routes (e.g. in the valley). The ascent and descent on the “Pinzgau Walk” is included.

A region made for hiking enthusiasts - discover the Salzburger Land with us. Anyone who is ready for a short holiday will find what they are looking for here in Austria.
