What started in 2004 as a catalog brimming with adventures has blossomed into a remarkable success story. Today, we not only look back on incredible experiences but also unveil the outcome of a special initiative: our fundraising campaign for the organization "Children have a future" Discover how thousands of hiking kilometers transformed into an impressive € 8,000 for this worthy cause in this blog post.

A look back at 20 years of Eurohike

In 2004, we took a bold step by launching our very first hiking travel catalog. This catalog wasn’t just a product; it was the foundation of Eurohike. Since then, we’ve accompanied countless travelers on individual hiking tours. Our first major milestone came in 2012, when we welcomed our 1,000th guest. That moment was a huge success for the entire Eurohike team and to mark the occasion, we ventured to the hiking paradise of Majorca, where we were able to enjoy the beautiful mediterranean landscapes that our guests experience on our hiking holidays in Majorca. This trip is one of the best moments in the history of our team!

Now, eight years later, we returned to Majorca once again – this time for a very special reason: our company's 20th anniversary. But we wanted to dedicate this anniversary to a special cause as well. Let us tell you the story behind it.

Hiking for a good cause – Our fundraising campaign

As part of our 20th anniversary, we wanted to give back. That’s how our special #afterwork fundraising campaign came to life. From April to July 2024, our team eagerly racked up hiking miles – all for a fantastic cause! We donated 2 euros for every kilometer walked to the organization "Kinder haben Zukunft." Our goal was to raise 2,000 euros. So, what do you think our team achieved?

With over 4,000 kilometers walked, we raised an impressive 8,000 euros! It's an achievement that completely fills us with pride.

The organization "Kinder haben Zukunft" supports families who have fallen into hardship through no fault of their own. Whether due to illness, job loss, or other misfortunes, the organization steps in where help is urgently needed. Our partnership with them began last year when one of our team members discovered the organization at the Salzburg Christmas Market. After an inspiring conversation with the chairman, it quickly became clear that we wanted to establish a long-term partnership.

Where the hiking kilometers were collected

In recent months, our team logged hiking kilometers in a wide range of regions. Many started close to home – on Salzburg’s local mountain, the Untersberg, in the Tennengebirge, or around the stunning lakes like Fuschl and Wolfgangsee. The city of Salzburg was also a popular destination. But our wanderlust didn’t stop at the borders. We clocked-up kilometers on the famous E5 long-distance trail from Oberstdorf to Merano, along the Lechweg, in Portugal, and even in New York!

Travel Specialists team activityAlpaca hike

As part of the #afterwork hiking campaign, we not only logged kilometers individually but also together as a team. A standout highlight was the alpaca hike organized by our Travel Specialists. During this team activity, we could not only rack up kilometers but also enjoy the fun atmosphere with the alpacas. It was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen team spirit while being active for a good cause.

Product Management team activity - hike to the Postalm

Together with their four-legged companions, the product management team set off for the Postalm. Step by step, they logged kilometers for a good cause while fully enjoying the surrounding nature. After the hike, they treated themselves to a well-deserved lunch at the mountain hut while basking in the warm sunlight. This day captured not only many kilometers but also unforgettable moments that the team will fondly remember.

Verena Feldbacher, 875 kilometres

"Being active outdoors and especially hiking, is a true delight for me and the perfect way to recharge my batteries! Together as a team, we were able to contribute to a great cause, which added even more value to each kilometer walked and served as wonderful incentive for me."

Employee Verena Feldbacher

Isabella Graf, 535 kilometres

"Participating in the fundraising campaign was a wonderful opportunity for me to spend time in nature with my dog while also doing something good at the same time. It was particularly motivating to see how we, as a team, were able to accumulate so many kilometers to support the organization 'Kinder haben Zukunft.' I am even prouder to have achieved second place with 535 kilometres"

Employee Isabella Graf

Reimar Winterberger, 518 kilometres

"I think it's great that we as a company have started this charity campaign - it's given our sporty product management team extra motivation to log lots of miles! For me, it was a wonderful way to combine my passion for walking and spending time in nature with my dog. Most of the time we followed the Eurohike trails, which gave us the opportunity to experience the diversity of each region."

Donation presentation

The highlight of our anniversary was the donation presentation to the "Kinder haben Zukunft." organization. Thanks to the hiking efforts of our team, we were able to present the organization with an impressive 8,000 euros. The joy during the handover was palpable, both among our team and the organization.
