Lonely hiking trails by the sea in Menorca

Discover the path that surrounds the wonderful Mediterranean island of Menorca. The “Camí de Cavalls” is a famous route, suitable for beginners and experienced hikers. The hiking route has a great geological and scenic variety, passing by beautiful beaches, forests, inland pastures and cultivation, as well as urban areas in Maó-Mahón, Minorcan capital in the East and Ciutadella de Menorca in the West. During your week in Menorca you will discover the most beautiful stages of this unique route as well as the culture and traditions of the friendly inhabitants living on this colorful Balearic Island.

You start with the nature reserve of S’Albufera des Grau, which is located in the heart of the biosphere reserve. Wetlands, pastures and cultivated areas as well as stunning dunes and white sandy beaches complete the scenery segment.

By the way: Bird lovers are in particularly good hands on the island. On the third day of your walking holiday you will hike to the Ciutadella in the North of Menorca. Here the biological diversity is the greatest and so are the bird species. Marvel at the diversity of Menorca.

On the sixth day of your walking tour it gets truly spectacular. On the “path of the Gorges” you get to discover three well-known gorges: Algendar, Trebaluger and Albranca. You continue inland through green forest areas. The final day starts again with a circular hike from Son Bou to Es Canutells. In addition to the basilica, you visit the 100 prehistoric caves of Calescoves.

  • Spectacular cliffs: Menorca offers numerous cliffs and breathtaking beaches. The cliffs are particularly impressive at Cap de Cavalleria.
  • Pardal’s Cave: This cave contains an antique scoop wheel as well as hidden bunkers from World War II.

On Menorca you hike inland or along the coast on coastal paths, dirt roads and paved routes. Due to the prominence and popularity of the long-distance hiking path, you find wooden signs with markings on the ground along the entire route. In case your energy levels let you down on one of the days, there is always the option to shorten the stage.
